Good Weekend

This weekend I went to a marriage retreat with my wife, which was hosted by my church. The message was fantastic, and I’d recommend it not only to married couples but I found it applicable to all types of relationships. I’ll try to post a link if they put it online. Anyway, [...]

Prayer of the Week

Lord God, please give me the patience to wait. Lord, keep me from becoming bitter that my will is not being done. I pray that I will keep in mind that if you are in control, you must have a reason for my unbelief, and that you will use it for your glory. [...]

My Faith Lost Me

I think it’s fitting to phrase it this way. Instead of saying “I lost my faith”, in reality my faith lost me. I don’t care to get in an argument regarding free will and predestination. Most Christians, I believe, would agree that God has an active role in their faith; that they [...]

Prayer of the Week

Lord God, please help me in my unbelief. This past week I’m finding it harder to pray, harder to sing, harder to hope that I will have faith again. Lord, give me ears to hear, open my eyes to see, open my mind to think, open my heart to believe. Lord I need you to [...]

Prayer of the Week

O great God of highest heaven
Occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme
Conquer every rebel power
Let no vice or sin remain
That resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me
Make me Yours forevermore
I am blinded by my sin
Have no ears to hear Your voice
Have forgotten Your love within
Have no taste for heaven’s joys
Spirit, please [...]

I was catching up on some of the podcasts I listen to, when I came across a podcast special on Darwin day. It is by the Reverend Thomas Goodhue on how religion informed Darwin and the scientists who led to him. It was a fascinating history of early paleontology, and how it interacted [...]

Prayer of the Week

Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? I know I can’t do this on my own.The passages I’ve read, the prayers I’ve prayed, the blogs I’ve visited, the videos I’ve watched, and the books I’ve read have not helped me yet. I still sit here [...]

God on Trial

This is a very powerful show. I almost can’t put it into words, you’ll just have to watch. It touches on the problem of evil and doubt.  I can’t imagine the faith crisis that people underwent in those concentration camps.
